Today, it was the first adventure to get from Bordeaux to St. Jean Pied de Port. The train ticket office in Bordeaux kept saying there wasn’t a train going to St. Jean, however, my phone was saying that we could go to Bayonne by train and take another train to St. Jean. We decided to buy ticket to Bayonne and when we arrived, found that there is not train to St Jean. Well, after train and a bus we arrived to St Jean. We already connected with an East Germany Pilgrim, his name Ingolf, his backpack is insane, it weights 32 pounds without water. He will start walking with Steve and I and get a lot of coaching on the way. We have to change our route to Roncesvalles because there is too much snow in the path through the Pyrenees mountain (Napoleon way) is closed. We are spending the night in St. Jean and will tackle the 15.6 miles alternative path tomorrow.

Too cool! It’s always been the best when your plans don’t quite work out. It forces you to adapt, which is exciting.
Have fun!!!
